Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN and HLN. She frequently appears on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Before joining CNN in June 2015, she was meteorologist for locale stations like Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. The meteorologist has covered fires, flooding, hurricanes as well as the occurrence of blizzards. In the year 2019 she was nominated to win an Emmy award for reporting on Hurricane Dorian within the Bahamas. The coverage she provided of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, during which more than 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States over a period of four days with 200 of them occurring on April 27th, was nominated as well for Emmy. With her expertise in the field of environmental science, she's covered earthquakes, volcanoes as well as other natural disasters and the stories of climate change. Chinchar is a graduate of the Bachelors of Science from the Department of Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. She is a member of numerous organizations, such as The American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
